Jonathan Church looks forward to Chichester’s 50th anniversary

10th October 2011

INTRODUCTION: JONATHAN CHURCH

The artistic director of the Chichester Festival Theatre talks to Carole Woddis about the venue’s 50th anniversary season next year, public subsidy of the arts and about his current production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. Recorded at Chichester, 6 October 2011.

It is no accident that our most powerful commercial directors now – Trevor Nunn, Richard Eyre, Howard Davies, Matthew Warchus, Sam Mendes – a number of them went through the doors here; all were trained by the subsidised, often regional structure.
