INTERVIEW: ISOBEL MCARTHUR. Isobel McArthur is an Olivier award winning actor, director and playwright. In 2018 she created Pride and Prejudice *sort of, a raucous and irreverent take on the Jane Austen novel featuring comedy and music. The play went on to win the 2022 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Since then Isobel has continued to blow apart classic texts, taking on Robert Louis Stevenson’s Kidnapped for National Theatre Scotland, the operatic canon in The Grand Old Opera House Hotel and now Thomas Heywood’s 17th century comedy The Fair Maid of the West for the RSC’s newly reopened Swan Theatre. Recorded on Sunday 26th November 2023 on Zoom.
