Director Alexander Zeldin on Koltès’s Black Battles with Dogs

17th April 2012

INTERVIEW: ALEXANDER ZELDIN

The director talks to Aleks Sierz about his excellent new production of Bernard-Marie Koltès’s 1979 play, Black Battles with Dogs (currently at the Southwark Playhouse), the first production of this modern French classic — set in an African construction site — in London for 20 years. Recorded: 17 April 2012.

The play speaks about the themes of social isolation, of the longing for another person, and also for understanding and for communication.
