INTERVIEW: ITA O’BRIEN
Ita O’Brien has fundamentally reshaped the way we approach intimacy, consent, and storytelling on stage and screen. Bringing together decades of experience in dance, acting, and embodied practice, she developed the Intimacy On Set Guidelines, a framework that has become central to how intimate content is created safely and professionally across the industry and cemented the relatively new and increasingly widespread role of intimacy coordinator.
She has worked on major international productions including Normal People, I May Destroy You, and Sex Education, helping to shape some of the most nuanced and critically acclaimed portrayals of intimacy in recent years.
Recorded at the V&A in London, 10th November 2025
