INTERVIEW: CASSIE BRADLEY and PENNY NEWELL

The actor (in Sam Mendes’s King Lear) and doctoral researcher at King’s College London, who are co-convenors of the Research with Reach initiative, speak to Ella Parry-Davies about the role that university-based research plays in public debate about arts and culture. Rather than pitting the ivory tower against the real world, can they find a third way of engaging the public in academic research, and vice versa? Recorded at King’s College, 6 June 2014.

We wanted to take research out of the library and the lecture hall, and discover a more vibrant and engaging way to think creatively, critically and rigorously about what’s going on on stages, in venues and at festivals today.
