INTERVIEW: MATTHEW XIA. Also known as DJ Excalibur, now a rising director – responsible for hit revivals of Joe Penhall’s Blue/Orange at the Young Vic and Into the Woods at the Manchester Royal Exchange over the past year – Xia talks to Dominic Cavendish about premiering the 2015 Bruntwood Prize-winning entry, Wish List by Katherine Soper, and his career to-date. Recorded at the Royal Exchange rehearsal studios 14-09-2016. Details here.

“The headlines that span out after Katherine wrote and won the award were “perfume-seller writes ward-winning play. now that is the truth – she does work in a perfumery, but she also studied English at Cambridge, did the Royal Court young writers’s course, went to Central, studied playwriting. The craft of a play is something really particular.”
