FOCUS ON MOGADISHU

Post-show discussion between artistic associate Simon Stephens and debut playwright Vivienne Franzmann about her Mogadishu (Lyric Hammersmith), a contemporary play that examines class and race in a school setting. Extract. Recorded at the Lyric Hammersmith. Expletives not deleted.

Originally, there was much more in the play: great, big, long monologues in which the boy Jason talked poetically about his home life – these had to go.
